Materials List


For the Uptown Handbag
Allow extra yardage for matching or centering a design on your fabric.

  • 1/2 yard of 44” wide light to mid-weight fabric for the Exterior
  • 3/8 yard of 44” wide light to mid-weight fabric for the Lining
  • 1/4 yard of 22” wide single-sided fusible Peltex® by Pellon® or a similar extra heavy stabilizer
  • 1 yard of 20” wide heavyweight sew-in interfacing (we use Pellon® 50)
  • 3” of 3/4” sew-on VELCRO® brand fasteners
  • 1 sheet of 12” wide x 18” long extra thick Template Plastic from Prim-Dritz™ found with the quilting supplies OR 1 piece of 1/8” thick heavy pressed cardboard (you can use the back of a writing pad or purchase “chipboard” from an arts supply store.)
  • 1 spool of coordinating all-purpose thread (we use Coats Dual Duty XP®)


Finished Size: 17 1/2” wide x 7” tall plus the Handles x 3” deep

For the Downtown Purse
Allow extra yardage for matching or centering a design on your fabric.

  • 3/4 yard of 44” wide light to mid-weight fabric for the Exterior
  • 3/4 yard of 44” wide light to mid-weight fabric for the Lining
  • 1 1/4 yards of 20” wide Peltex® #70 by Pellon® or a similar extra heavy stabilizer
  • 1 1/4 yards of 20” wide fusible woven interfacing (we use Shape Flex® SF-101 by Pellon®)
  • 1” of 3/4” sew-on VELCRO® brand fasteners
  • 1/2 yard of Boning (sold by the yard or in packages)
  • 1 sheet of 12” wide x 18” long extra thick Template Plastic from Prim-Dritz™ found with the quilting supplies OR 1 piece of 1/8” thick heavy pressed cardboard (you can use the back of a writing pad or purchase “chipboard” from an arts supply store.)

For the Fabric Flowers
NOTE: There is enough materials and notions to make one large and one small fabric flower

  • 1/4 yard of 44” wide lightweight fabric for the flower petal fronts
  • 1/4 yard of 44” wide lightweight fabric for the flower petal backs
  • 1/4 yard of 17” wide Wonder Under® by Pellon® or a similar double-sided webbing
  • 2 (size 1 1/2”) large buttons to cover from Prym-Dritz™
  • 2 (size 1”) sew-on craft backs and/or hair barrette backs

 


TOOLS NEEDED: Scissors, Straight pins, Ruler, Hand sewing needle, Iron and ironing board, Fabric marker or Chalk pencil, Pressing cloth, Zipper foot for your machine, Thimble and Safety pin
